I think it was the fact his filecard talked about him being a spoiled child made me think he was actually still a kid, which was kind of off putting.

I forgot how fast those 'Nok comic packs came after the convention set. Looking back things make less sense than at the time.

Also; I'd suggest that if anything was to inspire the code-name, it'd be Thrasher magazine. It's hard to imagine now, but in the eighties Skateboarding was super looked down upon. Partially due to its connection to hardcore punk, which caused very large problems in major media markets like LA and New YorkR.T.G.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1730351558727980814.post-81754644798855858672016-08-12T09:50:07.185-07:002016-08-12T09:50:07.185-07:00I didn't care for Thrasher back in 1986, eithe...I didn't care for Thrasher back in 1986, either. He grew on me. He broke the Dreadnok sunglasses and blue jeans theme. Zartan's siblings did, too, but they were sort of a subset within a subset (amusingly their packages have no mentions of the Dreadnoks on them).

I dislike the comic pack version's baby blue boots.

I haven't encountered discolored plastic yet (though Star Wars figures from around the same time have that problem). But there's issues with the comic pack figures. The softer plastic heads vs the hard plastic torsos ( i guess). The "new sculpts" have problems with cracking torsos from the neck down. And some ARAH comic pack figures have that, too. My Nam Storm Shadow is probably the worst. And those Gas Mask Cobra Troopers i bothered to army builder, about half have that problem. It's so frustrating I stopped even looking at them. Because I can thing of no solution. Store the figures disassembled? Maybe it's the too tight o-rings pulling something, but I don't see how. I think they screwed up by having soft plastic heads, because the softer plastic expands more. This will be the cracked elbows of "generation 2" (new sculpt era). So few seem to notice or care. But even MOC examples have shown it.A-Mannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1730351558727980814.post-29241511329203550202016-08-10T07:58:48.476-07:002016-08-10T07:58:48.476-07:00It's possible. It seems the names were drawn from lots of sources and most characters had several that had to be cleared through legal.Robot_Sonichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14046347432548886565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1730351558727980814.post-43581059486442084452016-08-09T14:16:29.474-07:002016-08-09T14:16:29.474-07:00I've always wondered if Thrasher got his names...I've always wondered if Thrasher got his namesake from the exploding Thrash Metal scene. 1986 was considered a banner year in the history of the genre.Metallica's Master of Puppets, Megadeth's "Peace Sells",Dark Angel's Darkness Descends,Nuclear Assault – Game Over, Kreator's Pleasure to Kill-and thrash's finest hour-SLAYER's Reign in Blood all classics in their own right.Joerizzo2025https://www.blogger.com/profile/08178783120454637064noreply@blogger.com
