I got my Iguanus at the last Joe Con, and in hand, I love the freak. While they are very cartoony and zany, I think the idea of aliens in GI Joe has a neat place, despite what naysayers contend. They are indeed niche, like Cobra La, militarized Drug Runners, Neon Ninjas and any number of Viper specialization or BAT model, but they are my kinda niche these days, and I wish I'd been as into the absurd back then as I am now. Oh well - Age and Wisdom, I guess. ;-)Nas Helewahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16379727791875415792noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1730351558727980814.post-61256289229762732972018-06-27T22:59:36.260-07:002018-06-27T22:59:36.260-07:00I think he looks cool. And a lot of other toy lines at the time had obnoxious monsters characters with action features. This was very much planned and deliberate. To be fair Star Brigade was a subline of GI JOE, so there was wiggle room.A-Mannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1730351558727980814.post-64047264787635120062018-06-26T12:07:13.462-07:002018-06-26T12:07:13.462-07:00i honestly think we probably had a better chance a...i honestly think we probably had a better chance at seeing the ninja commandos than the battle corps rangers, theres always been rumors that carded production examples exist and a lot of those molds got used for the mortal kombat line. 10 dollar ninjas would have also flopped at retail in the early 2000s. It would be one thing if Mindbender was up to no good making genetically mutated monsters but now the Joes are fighting alien creatures... Eccentric looking ones at that? I'm thinking a very late and bad idea of some Star Wars/TMNT/KENNER ALIENS/PREDATOR influence coming into play. But again, it would be a very late influence given that most of these things happened a while ago. I think it's another example of how grounded ideas get lost in space. Take Jason X for example.mickjigghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13077739431632058492noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1730351558727980814.post-84292468157395651622018-06-26T09:49:56.863-07:002018-06-26T09:49:56.863-07:00Every so often Joe just strays too far in one dire...Every so often Joe just strays too far in one direction. Manimals is DEFINITELY too far. Its not a bad idea. Probably coulda been fun for a story for the comics or the show and gauged interest from there for a toy line or sub-line. But the Manimals were more about the tranforming gimmick than overall play value. Vortex almost looks like he's trying to infiltrate the Visionaries.

$10 a figure hurt the KB's Manimals. At the time that you could do better with your dollars. Actually, even now that's too much for a single retail figure. Things have gotten too pricey out there.A-Mannoreply@blogger.com
