I was very surprised to find this is the first content I've made on the 1991 Mercer figure in 20 years. He's a figure I greatly enjoy. And, I thought I used him quite a bit. But, it turns out that he's mostly in the background of photos. He's rarely the focal point. I probably need to change that. The figure's colors and mold are easy to match up with vehicles and other figures. So, he can be used in a variety of ways. I just need to explore it a little more.
The upside is that lots of other people use to great effect. So, check out all the links below to see some fun stuff utilizing one of the better 1991 figure releases.

This guy is a great example of a "forgotten figure". I definitely forget this guy exists, mainly because the original Mercer is so awesome. But the Mercer V2 figure is, honestly, pretty great too. The chain mail arm is kinda weird, but overall the figure is fantastic, and really pulls from his ex-Viper background. It's a great platform for an easy Viper Commander custom. Too bad his accessories are truly terrible. I like the black gun you've paired him with in the second pic, as it has an "ex-Cobra' feel.
ReplyDeleteDon't like the mold and hate the facial hair.

91 Mercer is a gem, and a major improvement over his 87 version. It's easy to visualize him as a Joe or a Cobra. He looks just as good leading a squad of 86 Vipers as he does charging against them in battle. Well done, Hasbro.
ReplyDeleteReally good points! Never thought of using him as a Cobra squad leader, but it would totally work.
