Supposedly, lots of vintage Joe molds were lost. Oddly, though, when someone went looking for them, tons of molds suddenly popped up. Such was the case in 2008 when the Headhunter Stormtrooper, Gristle and the original Headhunter figures all appeared in the convention set. It was a long awaited return for these figures. The colors, though, weren't perfect. Arsenic seemed cool. But, it had some issues and didn't translate well on the Headhunter Stormtrooper figure. The Headhunter Guard, though, was OK and was a nice complement to the original Headhunter figures. There's not a lot of content on the figure out there. But, here's the best of the Headhunter Guard from around the web.

the cobra side of this set is a big whatever, those BATs are downright stupid. i’m not entirely sure why what essentially amounts to a drug cartel would have robots, or by this time had they shyed away from the whole drug dealer motif?
ReplyDeletehowever the shockwave/longarm/low light 3 pack from this con are probably the best repaints of the 2000’s
They put 6 BATS in the set and only 2 of the Headhunters. I bet they thought people wanted BATS more, but this figure goes for a lot by himself, so much that it's more cost effective to get the whole set. Plus the JOES were add-ons! Non-attendees got screwed out of the 3 Joes probably. All to make more troop builders.
DeleteShould've omitted the Cobra part of the logo. Yeah, Hasbro retconned the Headhunters into Cobra back in 1993 when the second wave of DEF was folded into Battle Corps, but why repeat that laziness?
ReplyDeleteOf course I'd taken a retail six pack over con anything, anyday.
