It's tough to beat the Dragonfly. It's a drastically superior toy to the over-rated Skystriker. And, even after 11 years of additional releases, the Dragonfly held up and remained a necessary element of any collection. It both displays well and doesn't take up a ton of space. It has a lot of details and features that give it depth that makes it visually interesting. And, it works perfectly with the figures from that era.
There's plenty of content on the Dragonfly out there. So, stop by all the links below and check it out.

I agree that, in nice condition, a Dragonfly is an essential component to a collection.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I've found that it's one of those vehicles that REALLY starts to look unattractive the second it takes any amount of damage/wear (even something as common as drooping rotors or messed up stickers seems to severely impact the display value of a Dragonfly). Of course, that's true of any toy...but the issues seem to be more pronounced/noticable with the Dragonfly, in particular (just my personal opinion/experience, of course).
Couple that with the overall fragility of the vehicle's parts and it means that you pretty-much need to have a near-perfect Dragonfly in order to truly enjoy it. Again, that's just my opinion. But I feel that a person can get more mileage/enjoyment out of a sub-par Mauler or HISS than a sub-par Dragonfly (the Rattler is another vehicle that I feel suffers from this issue).
That was all a bit of a ramble on my part, though... I'm not sure if it makes any sense or if anyone else has the same experience with the Dragonfly.
I love the Dragonfly, but the anonymous poster is definitely correct about how it loses impact if it shows it’s age.
ReplyDeleteI have the 2000 repaint, but it’s missing the missiles and I can’t bear to use it often.
