1992 Firefly - Around The Web

I bought this figure in December of 1992 because it was Firefly and I wanted a new version of one of my favorite characters from childhood.  I found a figure that was actually a lot of fun and very visually interesting.  His rifle was cool.  His uniform worked well. His grey accents hearkened back to the 1984 original.  And, even the bright green was cool.

Now, not everyone agrees on the last point in the above paragraph.  Despite that, the 1992 Firefly appears often enough in people's photos to suggest that it's a figure that collectors find useful.  So, check out the content below.

  1. I love love love this dude's rifle. I am ambivalent about the dude himself tho (I bought him off the pegs back in 92). Random suggestion: Pair this green rifle with 89 Night Viper. The green color of the rifle is the same green color as the Cobra sigil on Night Viper's chest. It looks great together.

    1. We know Hasbro had it because the Club used it. It's so maddening that we got so many superfluous weapons during the 2000's, but cool molds like this rifle weren't among them. I never saw it with the overstock weapons sold from Asia in the late 2010's, either.

The Club might have sold some overstock of their supply at various conventions. But, I never attended to be able to take advantage.

  2. I'm also a huge fan of the rifle (it's a shame it didn't make it into a few '93/'94 weapon trees in better colors).

When he was first released, this figure was a turn-off for me (his association with one of my least-favorite story arcs in the comic didn't help, either). In later years, though, he's grown on me a bit. His face (what you can see of it) is a good fit for Firefly. I also love all of the sculpted details on the figure (especially all of the gear sculpted onto his belt). The bright green is still hard for me to take, but that's a matter of personal taste (I've also never been a huge fan of the weird helmet thing he's wearing).

  3. Don’t own this figure, never paid much attention to attention to it.. having seen this post , Firefly is an excellent match to his name. The gray contrast to the bright green is home to anyone who lives with them
