1985 Armadillo - Around The Web

The 1985 Armadillo is one of those perfect, small vehicles from the line's formative years.  It's not a greatly detailed toy.  But, for the size and price, it packs a ton of fun into a small package.  As such, it's quite a popular vehicle to appear in photos.

  1. One of the things I loved about G.I. Joe is that it offered something for everyone. Individual figures were super-cheap and plentiful, and just about any kid could save up a few bucks for small-to-mid-size vehicles like this that had plenty of play value. And then of course were the larger and more expensive vehicles and playsets for families with more money.

Within that range was a strong cohesiveness that allowed everything to work together. The Tactical Battle Platform has a ramp and loading bay area perfectly sized for the Armadillo, and the U.S.S. Flagg has fuel hoses for it as well. That sort of compatibility suggests a lot of planning and foresight were put into making sure the whole line could be played with together.
