Silver Pads Grand Slam remains one of those figures who still carries an aura about him. It's not an easy figure to find in mint condition. And, while he's not the most important character in the Joe world, the figure transcends that and remains desirable. As such, there's some decent content using the figure that's out there. The striking colors and general rarity make for fun photos. So, check them out!

The Silver Pads Grand Slam isn't really much of a repaint, but yet it still somehow manages to feel like a significant change. Mine hasn't really aged all that well, so he doesn't see a lot of use anymore, but someday I'll write about him.
ReplyDeleteHe's more of a tweaking than a full-on repaint, but it's a great improvement. It sets him apart from Flash and it feels more character-appropriate. For a guy who loves old sci-fi stories, a set of silver pads straight out of a 1930's serial would definitely appeal to him.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there are people who don't want to take the time to seek out a silver pads Grand Slam in good condition (as well as people who don't want to pay the prices he typically goes for). And, as things typically go, I'm sure those same people are going to line up to call this figure "overpriced," "a waste of money," etc. But don't be fooled by bitter people like that. He's a really cool figure (especially when equipped with a JUMP) and there's a reason that the silver pad version has become the defacto look (in a way that never happened for the tan Clutch and Grunt repaints).
