2006 Gas Mask Trooper - Around The Web

In 1997, if you had told collectors they'd be able to buy two classic army builders crafted after the Cobra Officer and a newly sculpted Lady Jaye for $10 they'd have been ecstatic.  If you told them that the set would be a massive pegwarmer and be widely clearanced, they'd have never believed you.  But, that's what happened.  This Gas Mask Trooper is a solid, if unspectacular release.  He works well with the other Comic Pack army builders and was something a little different.  Sadly, many of these figures are starting to degrade due to the cheap plastic Hasbro used during the 2000's.  So, enjoy the best of him from around the web while you can.

  1. It's a contest between these guys and Viper Pit on which is more frustrating. Viper Pit figures have the thighs that cause problems, plus the carry over issues from 1997 Vipers. Gas Mask Trooper just up and start cracking at the torsos, like other comic pack figures. I actually disassembled some mine. Did know what to do. Is it the tight o-rings? The plastic quality? The soft plastic heads expanding against hard plastic? All of the above? I have seen military toy knock offs with soft plastic heads and hard torsos get torso cracks. Also, some 2002-2007 "New Sculpts' seem to have that problem (Zarana, Night Creeper, BAT Mk3)

And that it became a pegwarmer shows how silly all the new hype is around 6 inch and retro collection GI JOE. We've had strong starts to GI JOE relaunches before, and then a few years later...clearance time.

    1. I remember how over the top the anniversary guys were in 2007. Within a few years, those figures sucked and most of the guys who made fandom suck for a few years were gone.

    2. I remember a few people (newbies) getting annoyed Hasbro corrected 25th crotches/waists so the figure could actually sit, like GI JOE figures are supposed to do. Pro-diaper crotch fans. LOL
