1989 Frag Viper - Around The Web

Frag Vipers are odd ducks.  The bug eyed head and jumpsuit make for an interesting combo.  And, the figure's primary color is a rare brown.  His gear, though, is spectacular.  And, in a lot of ways, the figure works.  It's not perfect and you really only need a couple of them.  But this figure shows that even some of Hasbro's wackiest designs could work from time to time.  Here's the best of him from around the web.

  1. The webgear is strange and I question its functionality...ha-ha...functionality on later day Cobra uniform. The jai alai thing never made much sense, silent compared to a grenade launcher, but as accurate...a man's throwing arm even assisted by a range finding helmet? Dubious.

Still I feel like I was one the Frag Viper's few fans for the longest time. He added a combat troop that was different than ones released before without being some tiresome "elite" trooper, and he can hold his weapons better than NIGHT VIPER or SAW-Viper.

This guy should've been in the Urban Strike set...probably replacing Storm Shadow, as he the worst mold in the set. (But unfortunately his inclusion was predestined by a poll fans took about what 6 packs they'd liked to see)

I need to get the MOTH Frag Viper someday.
