1985 Ferret - Around The Web

The Ferret is a cool little vehicle that was a great toy for the price.  It's the type of thing that would make a great candidate for re-release with a new driver or two.  But, that's not likely to happen.  But, at least we can enjoy the original release and the 2000's era repaints.  Here's some solid content on the Ferret from around the web.

  1. Nice vehicle. I have the Tiger Force version with the Cobra stamp on the tires. I really don't like when Hasbro repurposes vehicles that were originally Cobra and becomes a Joe vehicle. The most egregious example was when Hasbro colored a HISS tank green and called it a Joe vehicle. I mean like c'mon man!

  2. Every kid I knew with GIJoes had at least one Ferret thanks to them being inexpensive and featured on the cartoon a good bit. Of course it didn’t hurt that it was a cool 4-wheeler. Everybody loves 4-wheelers.

  3. Early example of silly weapons on a vehicle, the double guns with short barrels are supposedly .50 caliber. Uh, no, not convinced. And the side cannon, some think is a flame thrower is a "projectile launcher" so vague. Add Cobra's favorite red missiles on the sides.
But that's a GI JOE thing, my only gripe for the Ferret is absence of headlights or a lamp.

  4. Had not seen the green HISS before... wtf, lame. They won't re-release this because the new o-ring revival is all but dead (barring a new wave near the skystriker time)? Or for another reason? Thanks Hasbro!

  5. O ring revival is dead because they put out the same boring figures that we have a million versions of already. Snake Eyes and Duke especially.

Plus the price point was way too much!

50 bucks for an army builder pack. Hasbro has got to go back to the drawing board. Give us cool stuff like Pilot Scarlett and Night Force Ripcord. Not yet another Coco and Baroness.

The Stinger and driver sold out super fast because desirable items, and reasonable price.

    1. Hasbro's investor day and layoffs show that they are hurting in a big way and need something that will bring in substantial profits. Thus the previous push for digital games and movies, but who knows if that's still the plan. Sadly, I don't think o-rings move the needle enough for them. We may see something closer to the Sky Striker time, but who knows at this point. Luckily we have fan projects and bootlegs coming out.
