1990 Captain Grid Iron - Around The Web

Captain Grid Iron is a silly figure.  His premise is ridiculous.  The yellow pants are ostentatious.  And, his accessories are just so far out there that there's no justification for their existence.  Despite all that, this figure isn't terrible.  He is fun.  And, modern collectors have taken to him and complete versions are substantially more expensive than they were seven years ago.  There's a solid amount of Captain Grid Iron content out there.  So, it seems he has his fans.  Plus, the figure photographs very well.  Here's some of the best Captain Grid Iron photos and articles around the web.

  1. The 1990 figures really did have some nice accessories and I like how Captain Grid Iron can carry all of them. His pistol is really cool. I bought him at a convention a few years back as I never had one as a kid and the colors accessories really appealed to me. Besides the pants, he's far more basic looking than you'd expect. The digital camo print on his uniform is also quite nice.

  2. Captain Gridiron (as I only use one word for Joe continuity) is not as bad as people have slandered him as. Sure the football-molded grenades are a bit much, but the pads and helmet are A-OK and so are his weapons. He's no more out of place than say, The Fridge, [Gunnery Sgt.] Slaughter's Renegades, [Senior Chief] Tracker, Pathfinder, Crazylegs or Lightfoot. And he's way better than the Super Trooper by a long shot.

    1. Tracker's yellow pants and purple/yellow trainers are much worse than anything Captain Gridiron has or wears.
