1986 Beach Head - Around the Web

Beach Head is a classic Joe from the line's glory days.  In some ways, he was a little too close to Snake Eyes's appearance with his covered head.  But, the rest of the figure more than made up for that similarity.  He's a perfect blend of mold, coloring and accessories.  Here's the best of him from around the web.

  1. Never had this version of Beach Head but I like his colors. The 1994 Ice Cream Soldier came with Beach Head's machine gun in a more flexible plastic that isn't so prone to stress marks.

  2. I don't have the Version 1 Mold of Beachhead(Regardless of deco), nore any of the 25h Anniversary Version 1's. I have the Single release from Valour V.S. Venom, and from 1 of the Retaliation Movie 3 Packs. But in the past, when I looked at pictures of this mold, I always assumed that the Red Patch on his vest was either some sort of explosive, red rope of some kind, or even some sort of Rank Leader Marker of sorts(Sort of like a Red Mark to indicate he's 2nd or 3rd in command on the field or something like that).

It wasn't until I looked at reviews of 1st 6" Classified version of the Beachhead(Which was a Target U.S./Toys R Us Canada Exclusive) when it came out, that reviewers pointed out that the Red Beret that the 1st Classified version of the figure came with, was that Red Patch on his Vest on the Version 1 Mold.

I'm curious if people back in the 1980's up to say around 2009 knew it was a folded up Red Beret on his vest or not? I know some Vintage G.I. Joe Youtubers indicated that it was a Red Beret, as most of those reviews came out since after 2010 or so. But I'm curious if people knew back then if it was a Red Beret or not?

    1. I don't recall the red beret ever being really mentioned during those days. There's tons of old Beach Head customs on JoeCustoms.com. Would be interesting to see if any of them featured the beret.
