The 1992 Shockwave is an excellent figure. He is true to the original character and includes an amazing helmet. The entire 1992 DEF series of figures is actually amazingly well done. It features good colors, unique and memorable accessories and cool characters. There's really nothing about the set to not like. Shockwave is probably the best overall figure of the bunch. Here's the best of him from around the web.

Definitely an above average figure. Not too long ago,I found a nice one carded on clearance for 15 bucks .Too bad it's worth so much, I'd like to take mine out and have adventures with him.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame the Sure-Fire releases didn't come with the helmet and rifle.
ReplyDeleteInteresting that the DEF version of Shockwave wasn't wearing a Ski Mask like the pervious versions. I suppose they figured that since he came with a removable Face Shield, that he didn't need a Ski Mask.
ReplyDeleteWill admit though, that if I knew about the Shockwave character when I was younger, when compare to Version 1 and 2 Shockwaves, I wouldn't have necessary realized that the DEF version was the same character. Still, I do think it was neat that we got a Unmasked Shockwave if anything, thus giving a more different look to the character than if he did had a Ski Mask.
From what I can tell, 1 of the few DEF figures that didn't get a repainted re-released in 1993's Battle CORPS line. The DEF version's colours I feel has a semi combo of his Version 1 and 2 colours, with the Blue Suit(Version 1) and Black other details like Vest, Gloves, boots, etc.(Which I suppose you can say homages his Version 2 Night Force Colours).
If a 1993 version was done, I would of had the figure's deco either be a strong homage to his Version 1 look with 2 tone blue(Same Blue Suit, but the Vest, Gloves, Boots, Face Shield, etc. in a Darker Blue), or had deco inspired by his Night Force look(Grey Suit, with Black Gloves, Boots, and Face Shield at least. Would like a Green Vest to further match his Night Force look, but if the budget didn't allow it, I would make the Vest Black).
