1985 Tele Viper - Around the Web

The Tele Viper is one of the background characters who is absolutely essential to the Joe line.  Without him, Cobra would not have their massive worldwide communications network nor their pipeline to the the phones that drive almost all of Cobra's revenue.  The figure is not perfect.  But, he is the right color and released in the right year to be a major part of most collections.  The figure is still relatively cheap and available, especially if you know how to touch up the flesh colored nose and silver goggles.  Here's the best of him from around the web:

  1. Big ugly head syndrome that was a preview of 1986. It's not a bad figure, but it's the weakest of the 1985 villains. Face is pretty distinct for a nameless "army builder" what we can see of it.

Vintage is still the best version of the character. New sculpt had long legs and bulky arms. Modern lazily used Viper's awkward body, followed by a few more plopping of the head on other bodies because modern era is cheap and lazy most of the time.

  2. I really prefer the Python Patrol Tele-Viper. The original is kind of bland looking. I think the greatest Tele-Viper moment in Joe-history was when "Ouch" scrolled across one's goggles after he was punched in GI Joe The Movie.
