1992 Eel - Around The Web

I've grown to enjoy the 1992 Eel.  It's bright, ludicrous and the complete antithesis of the original 1985 figure.  But, the neon is something I find fun and the design has some merit.  Hasbro could have gotten this mold back in the 2000's and a repaint in 1985 colors would have been awesome.  But, it didn't happen and we're left with the super bright figure seen below.  Here's the best of him from around the web.

  1. a repaint in 85 colors would have been nice but seeing these in the same color scheme as the undertow/lamprey/sub-viper would have been neat too. it’s a shame that uniformality between the repainted cobra naval figures was abandoned.

  2. Yeah, only 3 distinct releases of this figure (including Funskool) and they sadly all kept the neon yellow. The good things are the missile launching robo shark and the fact he doesn't have easily lost/broken air hoses...though at the cost of that extra detail.

Why did they give the 1992 one silver flippers. The one thing good about the Battle Corps release, the flippers matched the rest of him. Not much compensation for missing paint ops and no robot shark, though.

  3. Possibly my least favorite Cobra figure of all time. Bad colors, dopey fins all over, the visor is just a lump with no detail, goofy weapon.

At least the shark is kinda cool.
